nosebleed irl
Woke up during the night with a copiously bleeding nose, and it took over an hour to stop.
The important question is: can my favourite white linen sheet be restored to perfect whiteness? Or will it keep a reminder of this incident forever?
Do I need to go out & buy some proprietary stain remover or can I just soak it in white vinegar or whatever?
Also: I'm *tired*. I'm normally out of bed and doing stuff by 8am, regardless of whether it's a workday.
It's 10.30 am and I'm still in bed and I know that if I don't get up soon, I'll regret it when it's hard to fall asleep tonight.

@lookitmychicken soaking in cold water before it dries will help keep the stain from setting
upside of white sheets is that you can just use bleach (or hydrogen peroxide) if the normal tricks don’t get it out

@lookitmychicken i mean i dont know all the details of your sheets but, generally with white fabric those are both p safe and straightforward
the trouble is mostly with colored things, where you’re stuck trying to find something that will unbind the proteins without *also* unbinding the dye

@Satsuma in this case, 100% linen for the sheet, so I'm fairly comfortable being harsh with it.
I'm less confident about the mattress topper, but it's not usually visible so I'm less concerned if I can't get it spotless.

@lookitmychicken ahh yeah then i’d just go for it with peroxide
my mattress topper definitely has some stains on it 😅 fortunately like you say you usually dont see them

@Satsuma I discovered that my new machine has a soaking option. So I soaked the sheet for 2 hours in cold water, followed by a cold water wash, and the stain is entirely gone
Did the same with the mattress topper and it was a tight fit so that there's still some lint left, but the blood stains are gone.
Yay thank you for the advice!

@Satsuma it happened in the middle of the night and I was not willing to get up and figure out what to do with it immediately, so it has dried
But! If I'm safe to use bleach or hydrogen peroxide, then I can happily wash in cold water for now, and go back with bleach or whatever if I need to.
That is a relief.
