:flan_think: Someone hire me. I am a card-carrying member of a legally-registered religion that celebrates 120 festival days yearly and I WILL insist on taking my favorites off to set a good model for the rest of the companies.

hell, we're a week out from Lenaia. It's a four day long festival honoring Dionysus where people traditionally go to the theater. There's eleven surviving plays by Aristophanes. Tell your HR we're busy and you need time off.

And I'm laughing at this but .....

We model a lot, a LOT of aspects of our societies in the west after the cultural, social, and political processes of classical Athens.

Their culture has ENDURED.

.... because they got fucking 120 days a year to develop and nurture it.

Follow

@pamela afaik they did not get two weekend days every week tho though, which does put it surprisingly close to the amount of time we currently get (which imo is not sufficient!)

@Satsuma they got one rest day a week and seemingly didn't schedule stuff overlapping that unless it was like on a celestial schedule.

You could make a case that a festival is not a reasonable rest period since people were expected to participate, but they were curiously living a lot more in public than we do anyway so it may have erred more on the side of fun... and usually involved the city feeding you, which is something we should really get on board with, I think!
