Pet illness
Layla's red blood cell count was insanely low, apparently. We still don't know why, but she needs multiple blood transfusions. They said she's acting really normal for how sick she is, so that I shouldn't feel bad for not noticing anything earlier. But of course, it's difficult to do that 😭😭😭
re: Pet illness
well, Layla's back. she seems so much skinnier 😭
she has four different medications she needs to take at various times. she doesn't like the pill pockets, but the similar (and prescription???) pill assists are working.
we're going to try mixing the liquid medication with her wet food and hope that i don't have to force syringes into her mouth. some of the other rescue volunteers have offered to help as well if i can't do it by myself, which is a huge help.
re: Pet illness
Layla has both stopped being willing to eat her pills via pill assists and is starting to be terrified of me. 😭
She is doing nothing but hiding underneath the bed, because I am forced to traumatize her multiple times a day. I am not a vet tech! I am not good at this!
The rescue has someone else who can take her this week, but I don't know if it's going to be soon enough.
