if you don't have covid tests or aren't sure about the results (those home tests miss infection far more often than not if you only test once), you can and should still use a thermometer and bail if you have a fever.
it has consistently seemed to escape people's notice that this is still a backup option and I have no idea why. yeah no fever doesn't mean no covid, but fever definitely means something and it's free to test
