Today's DecRec is all about eggs!

I love eggs. I love them in many different forms, and they can usually be quick to whip up, so here are some stuff you might want to consider doing to your eggs:

1. Chawanmushi:
https://www.justonecookbook.com/chawanmushi-savory-steamed-egg-custard/
2. Half boiled eggs + soy sauce + white pepper:
https://www.tashcakes.com/2022/08/malaysian-half-boiled-eggs-recipe.html
3. Steamed eggs you can eat with rice:

4. Feeling fancier? Three colored eggs (eggs, salted eggs, century eggs):
https://thewoksoflife.com/three-color-steamed-eggs/
5. Sweet egg pudding as dessert:
https://www.wokandkin.com/chinese-egg-pudding/
6. Tea eggs:
https://omnivorescookbook.com/chinese-tea-eggs/

(I think these are all super common recipes but hey, maybe you don't know them! Go on, give these eggciting recipes a crack~! They are all easy and delish)

Note: I just linked whatever recipe I can find but they are really super easy. I did not include anything that might take more than just a few ingredients or requires deep frying/using lots of oil. There's also sambal + deep fried hard boiled egg but ... that doesn't fit with the theme of quick and easy, haha. it's certainly delicious though!

@geraineon half boiled eggs look like what I would cal soft boiled eggs but I've never eaten them craked into a bowl or with soy sauce, and now I want to try then that way

Do you dip the toast in the egg?

@Forestofglory@wandering.shop I do! Buttery toast + kaya, dipped into half boiled eggs seasoned with soy sauce and pepper is one of my fav breakfast and tea things~! it's such a popular food, we have a one-function kitchen equipment for it: https://www.hupsooncompany.com/product/half-boil-egg-maker-big/

makes
perfect eggs all the time. XD

and yeah, soft-boiled and half-boiled is the same thing i think

@geraineon That looks so cute, how does it work? I have a steamer for my soft boiled eggs, but you can add different amounts of water for different amounts of donness.

Hmm.. I have soy sauce, eggs and bread at home but not white pepper or kaya, but I really want to try eggs that way now!

@Forestofglory@wandering.shop put eggs in the top part, then pour hot water until you get to the mark corresponding to the number of eggs you put in. Close it, wait. When the water is done dripping down to the bottom container, you have perfectly done soft boiled eggs~

... I didn't bring one with me but I was very tempted
😂

@geraineon @Forestofglory ooh what a nice little machine! the farm eggs we get are ungraded so probably would get…irregular results using it tho alas

@Satsuma@glitch.cat.family @Forestofglory@wandering.shop hm I should try with different size eggs when I'm back in Malaysia. I've not had to wonder about egg size back home.
