@alis@cryptid.house unfortunately that is a small car by the standards of what's available here - the subcompact market basically doesn't exist any more, which is why I'm going to be clinging to my 2015 Honda Fit until I run it into the ground.
(I guess you could get a Mini but that's not really a middle class car, lol)
@cocoa@thread.seam.rip (Also, ironically, I almost bought a Mini, but the EV versions are a bit too small, hence ending up with the Born instead. I also just looked up how much they cost and they are so cheap over there compared to here! Like wow your car market is… strange.)
@Satsuma@cat.family @kate@federatedfandom.net @alis@cryptid.house the NHTSA is finally considering regulations on stuff like hood height! https://www.npr.org/2024/09/09/nx-s1-5106517/nhtsa-vehicle-design-pedestrian-protection
I'm just like, I want another econo box I can fit an entire wingback arm chair into, but an EV. Sadly this does not yet exist, but my Fit is still in good shape for now.
@Satsuma @alis oh sure, but when you compare modern cars to the 70s? And yeah, I was gesturing vaguely at different regulatory incentives and grouping them under a too specific section, but they all play together 😭
