I illustrated these medieval English warriors - among others - for the exhibition "Dover Castle Under Siege" which is about that particular episode in 1216 CE.
This was an exciting project, as bringing history to life is one of my very favorite things! 🤩

@kristinagehrmann how common is it to have mail totally covering ones hands, like that second image? it seems deeply uncomfortable, but I suppose getting stabbed in the hand would be worse
