What do we think about this?

"BTS’ rise to fame will be chronicled in upcoming comic book"
nme.com/en_au/news/music/fame-

The quote from the writer feels a bit icky to me.

#BTS #FanArt

@pixelcats idk something about the “FAME” series framing is off-putting to me. Like yes, sure, they’re successful but the important part is not the fact that they famous, imo

@Satsuma Yeah this .. the 'fame' framing feels very western-celebrity-culture-centric. All a bit weird.

And I don't think Hybe or the boys have any involvement. TidalWave which is the company behind it on Twitter this morning - x.com/TidalWaveProd/status/174 .. /me raises eyebrow.

One of my favourite things about ARMY is the culture of fan art, fics and crafty etsy creators. Maybe that's why this really doesn't hit too - lacks the authenticity we see from Army artists.

@pixelcats hm yeah that does not sound like Hybe / BTS has any involvement! Makes the timing after they’ve enlisted even more sus tbh, before I’d been like ‘well I guess this is one way to fill the gap where they’re not producing music’ like the docu but knowing they didn’t agree to it makes it feel more like they’re exploiting the enlistment headlines / taking advantage of the fact that BTS isn’t available for comment

And yeah agreed that this feels very different from someone who’s an actual fan creating a comic to share with other fans, which would have felt a lot more genuine

@Satsuma It makes me want the fan-created comic! I hope some of our Army artists respond with their own creations, because I'd love to support those. 🤞
