It's FanChat Friday! This week's prompt is: What was your first fandom? Where was it based (e.g. mailing lists, livejournal, twitter)?

Reply or tag your response #FanChats3 so others can see. :blobcatcoffee:

@FandomChats The first thing I had what I'd call fannish feelings for was The New Mutants and then X-Men.

The first thing I was fannish about with people and wrote fanfic for, several years before the internet arrived for my family, was ElfQuest.

My first online fandom (reading/writing fanfic, active online discussion, sharing the experience with people) was the first Sailor Moon anime, and for me the experience was primarily based on Usenet and some mailing lists.

@umadoshi @FandomChats all excellent! My first fannish contact was via an independent web forum for young writers—the scene was mostly original fiction but there were just enough people writing/talking about fanfic for me to be like “huh”
