@ljwrites the wild bit is that Australia only got its name after we started calling the whole region Australasia first

@ljwrites and also both names have been applied to the south pole at various points, just to add extra confusion

@ljwrites i mean the naming history over here with the Americas and the USA is def also racist and confusing so I admittedly don’t have much room to talk BUT if you’re going to invent a fun hypothetical continent and then put it on your maps for a thousand years you should definitely make absolutely sure everyone agrees before applying that name to any one real place or you’ll end up with a mess of derivative names
