So, my HSK 2 exam is tomorrow. Learning and practising Mandarin is one of my greatest joys at the moment, so of course I spent most of today reading A Deadly Education by Naomi Novik. (I could try to justify this, but the short reason is that a lot of the time, my brain will do anything except what I want to do.)

It didn't really feel great to run into this line, tbh.

(The copy I have of the book also still has the racist dreadlocks line, which also did not feel great to read, don't get me wrong!)

@villainousfriend man even outside of the very obvious ableist issues this is just a weirdly aggressively dismissive take on what teaching is actually for?

Sounds like something one of those republican’s who wants to defund the public education system would come up with
