I think @terrana was complaining about Discord's super-annoying "when you join a server, Discord tells everyone to spam you with animated gifs" function.

One of the servers I am on found a way to fix this! (Admin-side action, alas, so doesn't help individuals joining new servers).

But for your own Discord, you can block the awful "welcome" spam by:

1) Designate a separate, unused channel as the entry point for new users.
2) Block everyone from posting on that channel.

@terrana @rowyn admins can also just turn welcome messages and/or the sticker prompt off if that’s easier!

I p much always toggle off the stickers for servers I run, but usually leave the “[username] has joined” note but you can ditch them both if you want

@terrana @rowyn also for myself personally, in the accessibility user settings i have stickers set to “never animate” which helps quite a bit (i have gif autoplay off as well, but thats a diff topic)

@Satsuma @rowyn That mitigates it somewhat, but not nearly enough. You're still dependent on an admin to make those choices, someone who doesn't know you and has to balance it with how everyone else there might prefer it.

There isn't even a way to even tell how it will act when you join without actually doing so.

@Satsuma Oh nice!

I turned the animation off, too, but the welcome spam is still irksome. x_x
