@Forestofglory I just checked through my bookmarks and the only relevant fic I have is one written by you, so I presume you know about it already :P cql/mdzs is just not a fandom ripe with female friendship, unfortunately!
@soph_sol It's really not. But there just aren't enough stories about women who are friends with each other in general
@Forestofglory @soph_sol on the one hand: absolutely agreed re paucity of canon
on the other hand, how many people wrote endless stories about the marauders off like, a handful of scenes where they talk vaguely about their past? *surely* we could turn madam jin and madam yu into something or dig into all the unspecified shenanigans cangse got into or….
@soph_sol @Satsuma I did find a couple of good stores about YZY et al but I included them in the first rec list in the series about women in the older generations https://ladybusiness.dreamwidth.org/2023/07/22/those-who-came-before-a-rec-list-of-fic-about-the-older-generations-of-women-in.html
@soph_sol @Forestofglory yeah figwit is another excellent example! it really is a thing fandom likes to do quite a bit but for some reason (well, we know why) the female characters with a ton of potential get way less attention than the male ones
@Satsuma @Forestofglory oh yeah ABSOLUTELY. or like...figwit for example. a character who appeared briefly in exactly one scene in the first LotR movie, got zero lines, and was not named. Fandom can be extremely creative with coming up with things from almost nothing when they want to.
and I do see occasional stories about cangse sanren or madam yu or madam jin, exploring their lives and perspectives! but it's pretty much always about a woman in isolation or amongst men.
