@Rozzychan @soph_sol @alis tbf basically all convention-associated awards get a bit “who does this small group of annual attendees get horny for”, not just worldcon and the hugos
THAT SAID most other awards do not claim to be unbiasedly representing the entire genre of science fiction globally which definitely makes it a lot more irritating when they do it
@Satsuma @Rozzychan @alis RIGHT, if they were just more explicit to themselves and everyone else about what kind of award they actually are I would be much less irritated!

If worldcon was world+wide then #TheUntamed should have got one imo.
But it gets a #NotHugos first because it was popular not in the US but in China. Then because it became kind of popular in the US more than a year later which means it doesn't count. And, it is fantasy, which is considered the bastard stepchild of scifi. And the effects were kinda crappy. And it was published as a web novel. They don't get much love. Not to mention the original novel was hellaGAY.
