Meta issues -
hi folks on medievalist.masto.host ! It appears that the meta/FB monster is beginning to encroach into activitypub space including mastodon.
My opinions on FB are well known, so I find this a bit worrying. My inclination is to silence/limit the (many) meta-branded instances rather than fully suspending them (https://docs.joinmastodon.org/admin/moderation/) but I could easily be swayed to suspend.
Thoughts, medievalist users?
@AspiringLuddite i am not on medievalist so feel free to ignore! but one thing i personally have been considering re: silence via suspend is that silences do nothing to protect *outgoing* data from my instance. facebook’s notoriety for its avid collection and misuse of user data makes keeping them from my data a much higher concern than keeping my instance from seeing theirs

I hear that. And will probably switch to suspend at some point. I don't feel comfortable simply shutting them all down without at least warning folks and getting some input.
So far everyone seems to be in favour of smashing them as hard as possible;-)
