A big criticism of Mastodon is that it has an ugly interface, and this is true. But I wonder how many of the people saying that know about the secret extra-ugly interface that you can switch on in the settings.
@XanIndigo when i joined fedi that was the default view which is why ive always been an app first user

@XanIndigo it predates the simplified interface by several years — i no longer remember the exact timeline but yeah for a while it was the only option and then it was the default

actually i think this ones meant to emulate tweetdeck which i’m not sure is even open source? but still very much a “poweruser techy who cares more about Doing All The Things than an easy to learn UI”
