found a letter in which my mom tells my dad (during their brief engagement) she thinks it would be a good idea to wait a few years after they're married to have kids, gives some reasons, and then mentions how it would introduce a whole third person while they're learning to live together

and as a person without kids, I totally get this.

BUT as the third person, I had an instinctive I AM A DELIGHT reaction and was like "EXCUSE ME?"

@platypus you might be a delight *now* but you weren’t when you were crying at three in the morning at six months 😂

@Satsuma oh yeah, I definitely GET IT. And I was not a delight at MANY POINTS in my childhood. And my teen years! But I was also just completely unprepared to encounter my hypothetical self in a letter 3 years before I was born. 🤣

@platypus hahaha yeah i wouldn’t expect to find myself in such a letter either
