today's adventure: i trash-picked a totally clean 2015-ish macbook pro near where a couple college kids were having a smoke. barely dented. caps lock key is missing. they wished me good luck.

i was expecting it to not turn on or something, like some college kid's computer broke and they just chucked it into the trash.

it turns right on. 96% battery life. lock screen with a user name 'User'; guessed a bunch of obvious passwords and couldn't get in, but i'll get back to this later when i have a little more energy.

now i'm wondering if someone stole it as a prank or to bully someone and threw it out. if i can get some sort of identification out of the drive, i'll try to get it back to the owner. if they told me they chucked it after the caps lock key broke, then, uh, i guess i have a new toy.

(these run like $600 refurbished these days? i really don't need something like this for myself, honestly, so i'd probably wipe it and find someone to give it to.)
