What's up with when a post (of mine) shows a reply, but I can't see it? Is that someone who's set their reply to followers only and I don't follow? #feditips

@Betty if you’re @ mentioned in a followers only post or dm you should be able to see the post so i don’t think its that
my best guess is that its a reply from an instance your server has silenced (a sort of middle ground between full federation and full defederation, where you can follow people on the other server and they can follow you but their follows get turned into follow requests and replies from people you don’t know on that server are auto-hidden). I wish the silencing feature could be improved a bit, bc as it currently stands it can be a bit confusing in situations like this
@Satsuma ah, okay. That's a situation that hadn't occurred to me, but would obviously occur.
I have found sometimes I have to go to "open original post" to see replies even to me, which is probably a related issue?
