I just realised I'd done a bunch of replies as #public versus #unlisted, where I've been trying to keep them unlisted mainly so people don't hop into an existing conversation without context. I tried to edit them but couldn't change the privacy setting. Is this a #Fediverse-wide norm, or specific to one's instance? I'm now investigating what my options are for pre-setting replies to unlisted.
@laurenthemself as far as I can tell, the only way to change the visibility of a post is to use the delete & redraft option. Which will break any threading that exists. It's a nuisance. I hope the ability to edit a post's visibility is added to a future update.
@lookitmychicken @laurenthemself not a norm per se, but technologically its harder to implement so i’m not expecting it to happen anytime soon
