I linked to a mastodon post at the end of a fic for the first time. (Yes, I should have done that yesterday when I posted the fic)
Anyways I'm very unsure of the etiquette of fic promo over here
@Forestofglory i mean i imagine its going to vary by community somewhat but i wouldn’t worry about it too much? i see a lot of people from the shop promoting their own books/blog posts etc and its a fandom friendly space so i dont see why fic would need different rules

Self-boosting is cool I think. I've done it more than once.
Promo posts are awesome! I don't have any specific thoughts about them that are radically different from my rec post thoughts.
Use hashtags liberally, don't be afraid to boost your own posts, and you can simulate a quote tweet by pasting the link to another post into your own post.
@Satsuma hmm... Yeah I don't feel weird about having made a promo post here, but on Twitter I generally quote tweet a few times for people who missed it the first time, and I can't do that here. Making another post seems strange? Boosting my own things seems weird too. I'm probably overthinking this
