Disability help, long post

Have a question for the #disabilitysolidarity crowd:

I'm trying to get #Disability for Ehlers Danlos (though it's the comorbidities that have ruined my life- chronic fatigue, migraines, POTS, fibromyalgia, scoliosis)

I had an exam last month for xrays and a general exam, but the doctor no-showed. I took pictures of the sign he left on the door, called SSA, told them what happened, etc.

I was told I wouldn't be penalized, but they weren't sure if my case worker would reschedule.

Just a few days ago I got another appointment scheduled with a new doctor, but it's for a psychological assessment. I'm not pursuing any mental health related disability- I am only "officially" diagnosed with GAD/ADHD and "battered spouse syndrome" (thanks, USN)

I'm paranoid that I was "too helpful" by offering to send them pictures of the sign and asking if there was anything else they needed.

Is this normal for a psych eval to be done when there isn't psychological issues in the claim? And if it is, what should I expect??

@bengesko i suspect ‘normal’ is going to vary somewhat from location to location & program to program but i don’t think this has to be an immediate red flag — the only disability aid i’ve received so far was for EDS & CFS/ME combo in a state run vocational rehab program (east coast USA). They did psychological screeners for everyone as part of the intake process. I went in, did some basic cognitive tests and chatted for a bit (with v heavy masking on my part lmao) and he went ok yeah you pass and wrote a note to my caseworker saying so

its a bit weird you weren’t notified before now it sounds like? but also disability bureaucracy tends towards the disorganization of a chronically underfunded gov’t agency so

re: Disability help, long post

@Satsuma Thanks, that does make me feel better!

I'm in Oregon/PDX.
