So Mastodon has a proper app now, and it's actually pretty good. Unfortunately, it doesn't have options to see the local timeline or make unlisted posts. This is unfortunate, because a lot of the posts I make from my phone are absolute trash. Sorry writing.exchange, I guess I'm going to subject you to some nonsense.
@XanIndigo yeah unfortunately the “official” app is missing a lot of key features for the site! I think the official justification is that this makes it “easier to use” or whatever but in practice it seems to be a lot of “why can’t i do x?”

Personally i use tooot, which I’m pretty happy with. Metatext seems to be fairly popular as well
