I wonder if social media could cross-post to forums, like people can send their posts to the usual timeline but also to a pre-set forum topic (like movies, politics, health and so on), and these would be accessible and searchable as forum posts, with the original threads preserved. Does anything like this exist?
I feel like hashtags are an extremely rough approximation of this discovery and search function, like they do work for some purposes and I use them myself but they require full public posting and don't have the organization and fine-grained searchability of forum posts 🤔
@Satsuma would these work like hashtags, but with more granular privacy settings than hashtags as currently implemented? So an instance or account would have tag clouds for instance?
