To me defining myself as an "autism mom" is like defining myself as the mom of a dark-haired child or one who loves cars. The reason autism is considered a bigger deal than these other characteristics is social ableism/neurotypism, which is something to resist but by no means central to my identity. Stop internalizing and centering the abled gaze ffs
