A fun fact about me is that my body temp actually runs quite a bit lower than the average, like, a 99 degree fever is almost 2 degrees for me

@coriander 97.5°F is actually the average temperature today; people argue whether the cited figure of 98.6°F (which was determined in the 1800s) is off due to measurement error or if humans have actually cooled down

@coriander there’s some evidence in favour of the latter i think; fungal infections (which would be prevented by a higher body temp) are on the rise iirc

the suggested explanation is that people in the 1800s were probably just always fighting off some kind of infection
