its honestly very sus whenever people are like "nobody talks to me on fedi, i get no interaction", i give them a bit of a sideeye

like? if you are just write-only and you don't actually *talk* to people on here? why would they interact with you? this is a social network. *socialize*.

I know its hard to put yourself out there, I get it, social anxiety and all but trust me, if you want this network to be community you need to do that a little bit.

@packetcat honesty i’m only on fedi to reply to folks; if i have a take, i just put it on my blog

if that means people clicking on my profile mostly just see random no-context posts and tiny ramblings, whatever, i’m not trying to build a brand

but i think the situation is people join fedi and only follow people who look “interesting”, and they don’t realize it’s the random normal people with impenetrable timelines who are actually having all the real conversations behind the scenes

@Lady @packetcat ^ yeah, this

all the "findability" crap, and the reason long-established fedi people tend to be so happy with their experiences is they built their feeds by reading reply threads and seeing people who were kind and thoughtful and excited to be here

@pamela @Lady yeah. I've been doing this recently especially. I just hit follow on anybody who replies to me and looks even remotely like a cool person. and its amazing what I get just from this.
