@coriander like 99.9999999999% of fanfic is terrible but even the terrible stuff is sincere human expression at least. something someone created with no expectations of profit but simply for the joy of creating and sharing. and they don't even want to let us have that
@Taweret It's almost all garbage but it's garbage that means something to someone and that alone makes it worth keeping around
@coriander no matter how terrible the fanfic is, there's a real person on the other side of it who cared. maybe they're barely literate or their fantasies are cringe but they're human and they created something they cared about. using AI to co-opt even that just pisses me off

@coriander @Taweret unfortunately many people who write fanfic do so not out of a love for writing or fandom but for numbers go up, social engagement, and clout
i don’t think AI will WORK for this, largely because i think sharing the prompts will always be more effective than sharing the results, but people absolutely will TRY
