Honestly at this point, Ocarina of Time doesn't win Best Game Ever tournaments because it's the best game ever, it wins because it's tradition for it to win

When Undertale won that one year, people were mad that Undertale won, sure, but they were mostly mad that OoT DIDN'T

At this point, it's not a measure of the game itself, it's just a ritual, it's the way things are done

It's very silly, but I think it's also kind of cute in a way

Back when everyone started voting for OoT, I do think there was a legitimate argument to be made that it was the best game ever and that propelled it through a few years when it started to maybe get overtaken by some other things (but nobody wants to vote for a Brand New Game over something that's earned its stripes like Ocarina) and now it's just The Done Thing despite the fact that, yeah, there are a lot of games that could be argued to be better than OoT

Shit, there are Zelda games I would argue are better than OoT

@coriander nostalgic for when gamers thought the best game ever was Tetris because there’s no story to get in the way of the gameplay
