@coriander according to an interpretation of early marx, socialism is just when we prioritize social man over egotistical man
of course, in the next breath marx clarifies that the hallmark of egotistical man is private property
@Lady Oh I like that
@coriander to be clear marx’s argument re: the jews in “On the Jewish Question” is that if America can be a Christian country despite abolishing state religion, then clearly political emancipation from religion is not the same thing as universal human emancipation, and the jews are not special in this regard and should be treated no differently from christians
but in the second part he digresses to say “hey antisemites, you may think you hate the jews, but the jewishness you claim to hate is actually just capitalism!!”, and does so by leaning hard into the antisemitic tropes of his presumed audience, and really like nobody needs to read that in 2023
@coriander he does a really great analysis and takedown of the liberalism inherent in the Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen tho, it’s choice
@coriander actually, i excerpted the good parts on my wiki here: https://wiki.ladys.computer/Page:MarxQuotes
@Lady ahhhh yeah I can see where that would uhhhhh
not be great
