I'm trying to figure out how to have a character in a story I'm workshopping have a face turn and work to help topple an evil regime but given that I'm specifically picturing this story as a kind of allegory for neofascist internet radicalization, this character kinda has to be white and I really don't know how to do this story beat without it turning into a white saviour narrative unless they just like

fuckin die

Which I guess could work, but I don't necessarily know if that's the way I WANT to go

This is my story I was talking about a little while ago that's kind of a response to-slash-riff on Narnia in particular, which is what makes the character specifically feel extremely white savioury, like, they end up in a Narnia and eventually help destroy a fascist regime, that gets tricky to do

On one hand, I think dying to destroy the fascist creep is an incredibly noble and worthy end

On the other, if you have your character die in the end, doesn't that have certain narrative and thematic implications WRT the worth of how they lived their life? "You came so far, you did so much, and in the end you died without seeing your goals fulfilled, why even bother" sort of thing

idk
