criticizing a design is a failure to criticize the underlying motivating factors for a design
often the case is that the underlying motivating factors are in fact sound—which means that the person criticizing the result is wrong and an asshole—but even in the other case criticizing the design and not the factors will just lead to getting a different also wrong design
it also bothers me when people are wrong about the underlying factors but at least then they are having wrong opinions about the right things
