re: programming language discourse, long

@noracodes there are certain kinds of data which it is easier to model in a tree-based structure like HTML or XML. there are certain kinds of transformations which it is easier to specify in Lisp. sometimes the most convenient way to specify a thing is with a CSS selector.

it's really tiring dealing with people whose entire model of programming boils down to just JSON. even for “traditional” programming tasks, data modelling, data selection, and data transformation are very important problem spaces. it's a real shame that “writing a good HTML file” is not treated as a technical skill the way that “writing a linked list” is. we have libraries for the latter; the former requires professional expertise.
