i would love it if pokémon fans would actually engage with the text instead of doing normal fandom character tropefic
do they not make kids read My Side of the Mountain in school these days anymore

and how it's been sitting on my queue forever, and seems to do what you ask
@Lady or, well... maybe not engage the text in the way you'd like, but it's at least not another character drama
@KitRedgrave i really really want somebody to do something interesting with legends arceus but i've been watching the tag on AO3 since the game came out and there is just nothing there
there are some older fics which are good (for some reason johto fics tend to be better than the rest) but i think a lot of older fans don't write fic anymore and younger fandom just isn't as creative
nothing like a video game series about nature and ecology to demonstrate that fanfic writers really only know how to write character dramas
