I'm sure this isn't unique to DS9 among Stars Trek but I really appreciate how the show just sometimes lets its characters be wrong and make a bad choice and let people down and everyone involved just has to live with it

Today we're talking about S02E10 "Sanctuary" and how the Bajoran provisional government knowingly failed an entire race of refugees

Like, the Bajoran provisional government are honestly pretty spineless, you kind of expect them to knowingly fail an entire race of refugees, but the fact that Kira agreed with them is what really makes it heartbreaking, like, she's normally the one person you can trust to see through the provisional government's bullshit and be a good moral center, but she just got this one wrong

And I like that, that's really good writing

"Coriander, how is it good writing to have the moral center of your show make the wrong choice?"

Nobody gets it right every time, bud
