A thing that genuinely peeves me off is when people don't even make an ATTEMPT to understand "Try not. Do or do not. There is no try." Like. The whole point of Yoda saying that to Luke is to give him something to think about and to reset his mindset, to try and force him into some self-confidence. People who just to "lol how can you do something without trying to do it" just entirely miss the point. And like come on man that's a key moment in the entire trilogy, make an effort, think about something for 2 seconds.

like if you change the action from "lift a spaceship" to "tell a story", "believe in something", or "respect someone's pronouns" it makes complete fucking sense

yoda is saying that if you catch yourself trying to actualize, you have already failed at actualizing because you have started from a place of the thing not being true. either make it true or don't
