There's a phrase often used in Westerns and the like when the characters are confronted with some gorgeous vista: This really is God's own country.
And I think the worst thing is that I have never found a better way to describe the feeling of being in the wilds of Montana surrounded on all sides by forested mountains and running water with the open blue sky above your head.
