@Lady I tried to find the actual reasoning and it was something about how it breaks characters lives up into milestones or something I honestly couldn't follow it

but also like, degrees and experience and certifications are also useful for other things too, like not murdering a hundred people because you didn’t know how to build a bridge
character levels are more similar to academic credits than anything
