@witchfynder_finder i remember seeing this take (like an actual paper i think) ages ago about how the reason why The Lord of the Rings, a series which nobody thought could be made into film, actually worked was because all the people involved in the production were already huge fans, so like, they intuitively knew which things fans would care about and what to preserve or cut
and i think Dune is in a similar boat; like, just hire somebody who loves the dang thing and let them make the movie they want to make
@Lady Yeah, Dune was also considered unfilmable before a couple weeks ago
This is also why we need to let Guillermo del Toro make his Mountains of Madness movie
