People keep insisting that DUNC was "boring" but can never provide any ways in which it was that

@witchfynder_finder there was this one scene where the film was like trying to explain stuff which is important for understanding the movie, and i thought it was boring so i didn’t pay any attention; anyway i don’t understand why everybody thought DUNE was so good

@witchfynder_finder in seriousness i think there is a way in which DUNE relies on you kind of being able to parse its structure and anticipate the ways in which the things it is doing now will be important later

like the scene at the beginning where Paul is talking with his dad about taking on the leadership of House Atreides, i saw that and i immediately knew that this was a story about his arc as a character and various tensions with him growing into that role, and so it was important and significant to me

but if you didn’t like, get that, then you might just be like “why are these people talking about random political bullshit i don’t care”

@Lady So once again we have a case of "people don't know how to watch movies"

@Lady And yet if you asked them what the Guardians movies are about, how many would even say "family"?

@witchfynder_finder honestly i think we’re still struggling to convince people that there exist things that movies can be “about”
