look writers, my take is this :—
if you’re going to have your character be good at something with words—say, poetry, or public speaking, or telling folkloric stories—you’d better fucking learn how to be good at that thing yourself
@Lady I always get a kind of enjoyment out of reading a shit poem from a character who is supposed to be great at poetry, but it's not the intended enjoyment at all =P
writers love to be like “such and such made a brilliant speech” without knowing the first thing about what makes a brilliant speech and consequently showing their entire ass
