food (non-veg)

okay. rainbow cake is baking. this process is kind of a pain in the ass - in order to prevent color cross contamination, I need to wash and dry everything that touches the colored batter in between mixing the layers. but hopefully it's worth it and I get a bunch of cakey layers in pretty colors!

we have: layers! and they're colored! and also browned a bit on the edges, but oh well - those should, in theory, be covered up by the glaze.

next step: wait to cool, then stack and raspberry!

re: food (non-veg)

if anyone's wondering what's up with the "wings," it's a technique I learned wayyyy back for getting cake layers cleanly out of the pan: cut some parchment paper in a circle, leaving two wide tabs extending up on either side, and use it to line the bottom of the pan. once the cake is done baking, grab the tabs and the cake lifts right out!
