Buddy of mine has been watching DanDaDan and he was like "I watched the first couple episodes, it was pretty good. Kinda goofy."
Then a few hours later was like "Yeah I got to episode 7 and it ripped my heart out"
So now I gotta watch DanDaDan

1- not shonen. Seinen. It was in a shonen magazine for like the first 3 months it ran. Then they were like "hey this manga about toxic masculinity and revenge and child soldiers is gory let's move it up an age category" this alone means it fits your criteria
2- have not finished watching the 2nd (currently last) season of the anime but I've never heard anyone complain about anything other than the Netflix english dub sucking (have only heard snippets but the German dub is supposed to be excellent)
3- Survive Said the Prophet does the first opening (and I think the 2nd opening of the 2nd season) MUKANJYO. It fucks. Check it out.

4- I too want the whole thing animated but you can read the manga you know? It's complete. It's licensed in English. Basically the thing about the anime is it more expands on certain parts and fleshes out backstory
