@coriander I really wonder WHY1 he thinks if he goes public about dating marnie he will lose political power. Like are Mayors in the land this takes place in married to the land and must not take a SO? I mean seriously. He could feasibly open up about dating marnie AND show records that show he wasn't giving her undeserved tax breaks and such... unless...................

1: I know the answer is because people would want to know why he kept it quiet for SO LONG because THAT'S SKETCHY AND CONCERNING

@lapis Yeah even in a very small town being married to a constituent is like

Normal

@coriander @lapis small town mayor is usually like a part time job that pays a few hundred dollars a month if that even

@Taweret @coriander @lapis Yeah, if we're being literal we've got to remember there's only about a dozen tax-payers in this village.

@apLundell @Taweret @coriander and maybe it's because my farm is outside of city limits it's not like Mayor Lewis demands a tithe every Spring 15

@lapis @Taweret @coriander The sell boxes are a town service, right?

Maybe it's taking the taxes right off the top.

@apLundell @Taweret @coriander does anyone know the economics of Russia (this could be neo-feudal or something)

I know on the wiki it says if you analyze the coordinates Harvey gives in one of his heart events Stardew Valley has to be in Russia if it theoretically corresponded to Earth (not that I believe it does)

maybe this also explains why Mayor Lewis can't come clean about Marnie.

The Tsar (Governor) will make him lose his position and land holdings

(I know the Tsar wouldn't do that but what I DO know of Russian history pre-Revolution is there was this concept the Tsar was all good and didn't know how much the local lords of the land sucked)

@lapis @apLundell @coriander pelican town is in the ferngill republic which sounds like a democracy but country names can be misleading

@Taweret @lapis @coriander You'll notice Mayor Lewis never comes up for reelection.

@apLundell @lapis @coriander i just wanna know if the fergill soldiers are using galaxy weapons against the gotoro empire

@Taweret @apLundell @lapis There's a whole thing about how Kent has PTSD (it made me super uncomfortable lol)

@coriander @lapis @apLundell the traveling merchant is selling things she smuggled from the gotoro empire

@Taweret @coriander @lapis

One day, ConcernedApe will run out of ideas for all these free content updates he does, and he'll add a whole side-quest where you go off to war.

And it'll be brutal and real, but still in the same art style.

@apLundell @Taweret @coriander

Kent will warn me I need to use a rifle
I will smugly inform him I have a bitchin' sword from the desert and that coolness beats bullets or lasers or whatever they use
Spoiler: this is how you die

behind the toot

@apLundell @Taweret @coriander I remember seeing this conversation on TV Tropes where someone who was either a trained soldier or some kind of combat expert was explaining there is basically no context where swords beat bullets and some nerd with a mall katana refused to believe him and I think tried to combatsplain to him

( For the record while I don't own any mall katanas I DO think bladed weapons are cool but realistically... it's not winning against a rifle I'm sorry!)

re: behind the toot

@lapis @apLundell @Taweret @coriander if I owned a katana I would just slice the bullets in half before they reached me
