I've said it before and I'll say it again but calling something "Lovecraftian" is one of the best ways to ruin a good cosmic horror story

Not because the term itself is bad but because the best way to do that kind of horror is to present a completely normal world that slowly melts as the narrator goes insane

But when you tell me it's a Lovecraftian story, I already know reality is going to melt so the impact is immediately lessened

It's not just deep ones and weird monsters, it's the slow realization that the universe is far older, far vaster, and FAR stranger than we could ever begin to hope to comprehend and the mental strain that comes from staring too long into the abyss

Anyway this post, as usual, brought to you by Steam games

@wallhackio No, there's just another sale on "Lovecraftian" games and it features all the same uninspired nonsense as usual

@wallhackio Look Outside, while not my bag mechanically, being too much of a Fear and Hunger, was thematically and narratively quite solid from what I've seen

@coriander fear and hunger looks like my ham but I haven't played it
