@lapis reported for edelgard slander
@lapis having played her route I struggle to not see her actions as a net positive on the game's world
(she does want to create a meritocracy which has its own problems. and she never critically challenges the monarchy she comes from. but the game makes it clear that the world she comes from greatly harms the lower classes and she tries to do something about it)
@lapis church route on first playthrough is an insane decision lmao
@wallhackio ikr?
@wallhackio it was funny him puzzling over who to marry (he was fem byleth btw)
He and I were basically in agreement that Raphael is the best man ever but he was waffling because he IS the best man ever but he also sort of shipped him with Bernadette and was like "can I really keep these two apart"
Don't remember who he married instead. Do not even remember if Raphael and Bernadette got together. But I respect that sacrifice even if I feel he bungled the damn game by going church
@lapis she didn't even kill your dad???
@wallhackio he sure seemed to think she did
@wallhackio but I believe you
@lapis I mean, the game plays around with perspective a lot so I can understand thinking she was responsible for killing your dad. But she objectively did not
@wallhackio who did then? I want to smugly inform him he should have stuck with Edelgard
@lapis Edelgard associates with the group who kills your dad and they made this decision without her input, to her great ire.
In general Edelgard's association with these people is something she hates but she felt she had to if she was going to defeat the church. Upon defeating the church she and Hubert work to upend these people
Whether or not it is actually true that she needed to work with them is not clear to me but the game makes it very clear that this was a decision made with a lot of thought from her and Hubert
@wallhackio thank you sherclod I will keep you informed on reactions
@wallhackio got a "hmm"
@wallhackio @lapis byleth can call her daddy now
@lapis being hot and in the right are my only standards tbh
@wallhackio Basically at most I hear people (on here I should say go) "maybe all her actions were not justified but I see why she did them and change needed to happen" my foolish foolish brother went the church route when he had successfully tripped all the flags to go her route because "she killed my dad". And it's like "dude I don't deny that and it sucks but she's also hot and in the right????"
I really think the localizers bungling that line that became memed as a "NO U" is the main problem. I don't have the JP line and a more accurate translation on me rn now (if you're interested I'll find it later) but it had a lot more nuance in JP.
