the thing about studying biology is that you don’t seem very smart in comparison to the pure mathematicians but you also don’t seem very smart in comparison to people in the humanities. idk where I was going with this I’m tired

@cam Who's saying that? From my very cursory look into it, biology seems really complicated and I'm impressed with anyone studies it

@cam Though that might be because I am a student of the deeply unserious field of computer touching :/

@vaporeon_ I think computer touching is pretty serious

@cam It feels less like a serious science and more like "we're going to teach what employers want"

Some courses surely were worse about that than others, I do think I have a reasonable knowledge of the fundamentals of computer thanks to it, definitely better to learn it in a structured environment than to have to piece it together at home when the Internets are full of spam and LLM output

But it didn't make me a scientist, it only made me a programmer
Scientists are cool and I am not a scientists

@cam Things that I have some idea about:
- C and assembly programming
- Java programming (if you force me to :blobcat_notlikethis: )
- how operating system work (only the very basics)
- very basic networking knowledge
- very very very basic theoretical computer science
- I failed the compiler construction course

Things I have no idea about:
- how to do actual science

@vaporeon_ @cam keep Java away from the Vaporeon, they are too pure to be subjected to that
