@vaporeon_ chopped white onions and cheese are common toppings
and of course chilli if you're making chili dogs
sauerkraut is also pretty common
this is unconventional but I've started putting pickled daikon and carrot on my hot dogs
@vaporeon_ @wallhackio a Japanese radish
@vaporeon_ @wallhackio I know about daikon because there (used to be? is?) a Japanese convention called Daicon that is now well known because animation studio Gainax first got their start making an animated intro for it, which breaks EVERY copyright law in existence and is glorious. (Even the song, Twilight by Electric Light Orchestra, is unlicensed.) (This video starts with the Daicon III animation, then the Daicon IV animation around 1:30. That's the cooler one.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-840keiiFDE
@vaporeon_ it's some turnip-like radish-like thing native to east asia. they're big and white
a local farm grows them so I've been using them lately
@wallhackio @vaporeon_ daikon is quite good
@wallhackio @vaporeon_ Asian pickle hot dog sounds good as hell
Lately, anytime I spend the night in Gary (next to Chicago) I've been ordering from this Polish deli that serves one they call the Swinie, it's a kielbasa with ham, bacon, caramelized onion, mustard, and a giant glob of horseradish, (edit: and sauerkraut) on a bun that is extremely not up to the task of containing all that. Last time I got after it with a knife and fork, which was a good decision
@funkula @vaporeon_ FUCK that sounds good........
@wallhackio What is daikon?
