@argv_minus_one i honestly don't remember a specific blackout in october 03 myself. it seemed like blackouts were more common then... i remember the very long blackout in the summer (was it 03 or 02?) which put in me a lifelong obsession with blackout preparedness that so far has gone unfulfilled... i don't think i've lived through a blackout longer than 8 hours since then
i think the assumption is that the 2003 solar event was not as strong as carrington, no? i can't find anything that gives a direct comparison
@argv_minus_one sorry to disappoint but i was a little kid in 03, i spent most of the big summer blackout playing mario kart super circuit and hamtaro... i think there was free ice cream too

yeah the original model ran on aas rather than needing a charger. was the sp even out by 03?
