does anyone actually like the default 88 character line wrap chosen by black

I thought the traditional numbers are either 80 (the width of some hardware terminals, if I remember correctly?) or 72 (the last 8 characters are reserved for comments on a FORTRAN punched card).

@vaporeon_ their argument is something along the lines of “it’s fine for 16:9 screens (I don’t know the logic behind this as it’s entirely dependent on font size) and it reduces file length substantially”

@cam I wonder how they measured the "it reduces file length substantially"... Yes, sometimes there's a line that just barely won't fit into 80 characters, but it doesn't happen particularly often for me, most lines are well under the limit and those that are over the limit are way over the limit.

Also, why is file length such a big concern? I doubt that there's a desperate need to save a few extra bytes by avoiding a newline and some extra spaces. And they're probably not printing out their code onto paper, either?
